Our petty worries

“For to you it has been granted for Christ’s sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake.” (Phil. 1:29)

Paul has been imprisoned as a result of his preaching the gospel. The Philippians had participated in grace with Paul both in his imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel.

The gospel is something that spreads, progresses. This can be accomplished by means we would not necessarily think would encourage the growth of the gospel. Paul’s imprisonment is one of the means of the gospel growth. Since Paul was in prison, the whole palace guard knew why and everyone else. And then the brothers who trusted the Lord because of.

His imprisonment had greater courage to speak the Word of God without fear. (Phil. 1:14) When there is persecution the church becomes stronger. It certainly weeds out the lukewarm types. Those who are honestly convinced of the truth of the gospel will not be intimidated by persecution. This is the eternity we are speaking of. What are our petty worries next to someone’s eternal fate? If we truly love, there would be no fear to speak the gospel. ‘Perfect love casts out fear.’ (I John 4:18)
